SCP-HAT Terms of Use

These terms and conditions govern the use of Hotspots Analysis Tool for Sustainable Consumption and Production website, namely, www.scp-hat.lifecycleinitiative.org , established by UN Environment.

The website

The Sustainable Consumption and Production Hotspots Analysis Tool (SCP-HAT) hereafter referred to as the Website, aims at identifying the hotspot areas of unsustainable production and consumption in order to support setting priorities in national sustainable consumption and production and climate policies.

The project is jointly conducted by the Secretariat of the 10-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production (10YFP) and the Secretariat of the Life Cycle Initiative, together with the International Resource Panel of the UN Environment, in collaboration with Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Vienna – Institute for Ecological Economics and Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO)
UN Environment owns the intellectual property of the www.scp-hat.lifecycleinitiative.org and Website, management of the domain name, and operation of this Website.

The data and information on this Website are provided by various data and information providers which are listed in the method and data section. The User is welcome to visit the Website, and use the information provided. However, the User’s use and access to the Website are subject to these Terms and Conditions, as they may be modified by UN Environment at any time, including any documents expressly included herein by reference (collectively “Terms and Conditions”), and such amendment will be effective immediately upon posting of the amendment. Once the amendments are posted, the continued use of the Website will be deemed as acceptance of the modified general terms and conditions as well as the Terms of Use.

By using the Website, the User agrees to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully. If you do not agree to these Terms and Conditions, you must not access or use the Website.

The User may not use the Website in any manner that could damage, disable, overburden, or impart UN Environment servers or networks, or interfere with any other party’s use of the Website. The User agrees not to circumvent, disable or otherwise interfere with security-related features of this Website or features that prevent or restrict use or copying of any Content or enforce limitations on use of this Website or the content. The User may not attempt to gain unauthorized access to UN Environment’s computer systems or networks.  UN Environment reserves the rights to and may take without notice to the User any legal and technical remedies to prevent the violation of this provision and to enforce these Terms of Use.

The User may print, download, and store articles and other information for their own convenience and for their personal, non-commercial use, without any right to resell or redistribute them or to compile or create derivative works there from, subject to the other terms below, and also subject to more specific restrictions that may apply to specific Content within this Website.

Privacy Policy

This Website does not collect personal information, except where it is volunteered. If the User provides unique identifying information, such as name, address and other information on forms stored on this Website, such information will be used for statistical purposes, kept strictly confidential and will not be shared with third parties, except with explicit permission. UN Environment, however, assumes no responsibility for the security of this information.

Notwithstanding the above, UN Environment reserves the right to disclose any information, including personal information, when required by law or when necessary to investigate potential illegal activities such as fraud, violations of the Terms and Conditions, or when otherwise necessary to protect the property, rights and safety of UN Environment.

Indemnification

The use of this Website is at the User’s sole risk. Because UN Environment has no control over the content provided by data providers, the User agrees to look solely to the data providers for any claims the User may have regarding data.  The User specifically acknowledges and agrees that UN Environment is not liable for any conduct of any User.  If the User has a dispute with one or more users, the User forever releases UN Environment (and its officers, directors, agents, affiliates, and employees) from claims, demands and damages (actual and consequential) of every kind and nature, known and unknown, arising out of or in any way connected with such disputes.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, UN Environment reserves the right to assume the exclusive defense of any matter subject to indemnification by the User, and the User will cooperate fully as reasonably required, and the User shall not in any event settle any matter without the written consent of UN Environment.

Preservation of Immunities

Nothing in or relating to these terms and conditions shall be construed as a waiver, renunciation or modification by UN Environment of any immunities from suit or enforcement measures that it may enjoy under any international and national laws, any agreement between any parties or any international convention or customary international law.

The use of the Website is at the User’s own sole risk. The information is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. UN Environment expressly disclaims to the full extent permitted by law all warranties of any kind related to this Website, information, data and tools, either express or implied, including without limitation, warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
